How to get here! |

Alton Water is situated approximately 4 miles South
of Ipswich, adjacent to the A137, (Ipswich to Manningtree road).
The entrance to the site is on the B1080 in the
village of Holbrook, half a mile from the Royal Hospital School. |

Cycle route |
|
1. From the Hire Shop, take
the track over the zebra crossing, follow the path for 1½ miles
until you reach Wonder Car Park. |

2. Take the cycle track
through Wonder Car Park for 2½ miles until you reach Lemons Hill
Bridge and the half-way point. |
|

3. Go over the bridge and turn right into Lemons Hill
Car Park and keep to the grassy track until you reach the electric
sub-station, which is ½ a mile along, at this point you have a
choice of routes. |

Route (A) easier route
Take the path out onto the public highway, turn right and follow the
road along for 1 mile until you reach a green cycle arrow on a telegraph
pole, turn right here to rejoin the cycle track. |

Route
(B) more challenging Stay on the original cycle track
over the hilly terrain and continue until you reach the dam wall, back
past sailing centre and into the car park, just in time for a nice
refreshing drink.
